The difference
As both an Occupational Therapist and International-Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I offer a unique approach to lactation consulting, rooted in nurturing and fostering self-efficacy. That is, my goal is to empower new parents to feel confident in the decisions they are making around feeding their baby.
I believe in empowering parents—not prescribing a path—and helping them discover their own. I want every parent I work with to feel more capable, more informed, and more supported, free from judgment or prejudice.
No fear. No shame. Just support, knowledge, and the confidence to trust yourself and your baby.

Becoming a new parent takes time. And yet, from the moment your baby is born (or even before), you're bombarded with advice—much of it conflicting. Don't give a pacifier. Give a pacifier—it reduces SIDS. Never sleep with your baby. Co-sleeping while breastfeeding is fine. In hindsight, it’s almost funny. But in the moment, as you’re trying to establish yourself as a parent, it can feel overwhelming, anxiety-inducing, and even scary.
That’s where I come in. I recommend considering scheduling a Discovery Call and see if we are a good fit, if the approach and information I bring to the table may assuage some of your feeding concerns.

Occupational therapy (OT) is a healthcare profession dedicated to helping individuals engage in their most meaningful activities to the best of their abilities. It is evidenced based and centered on the needs of clients and their families. Essentially I think of myself as someone who provides lactation services, through my lens as an occupational therapist.
For an OT with a focus on lactation, this means it is not enough just to have the baby well-fed and gaining weight. Because infant feeding involves two people (a co-occupation), the many influences that impact the mother’s health and wellness are also critical to optimal functioning for the family unit.

I am based out of Niles, IL and serve the North and Northwest suburbs of Chicago, creating a wedge-shape travel area. I travel as far East as the lakeshore, as far south as North Ave. and as far west as Barrington Rd. Please inquire if you are unsure if your location is within my range. I will try to make it work!

There are so many, and I know it can be confusing! I am an IBCLC or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). This is the “gold standard” of lactation certifications, if you will - a highly advanced certificate, awarded to qualified individuals who are already healthcare professionals (or who have taken healthcare prerequisites), who have completed additional didactic and clinical hours, and who have passed the IBCLC exam. IBCLCs are able to manage breastfeeding and lactation for more complex situations: recurring mastitis, suspected tongue tie, etc.

I am working on it! Currently in-network with Cigna, through Wildflower, and hopefully more to come.
For clients with out-of-network benefits, services by Rose Duffy Lactation may be reimbursable. I am happy to provide you with an itemized superbill at the end of our sessions, which you can submit to your insurance. (If you have a PPO insurance plan, you are more likely to have out-of-network benefits. Check with your insurance provider to verify).
